Elaine DeLack
Elaine DeLack grew up on a remote ranch in Montana, possibly accounting for her resilience and determination. She married husband Melvyn in 1979 and soon became pregnant with their first child.
During her second pregnancy she would wake at night unable to move her legs. Doctors advised that it was probably just the way the baby was lying. After the birth she suffered immense fatigue and after visiting doctor after doctor was finally diagnosed with MS.
She wanted to return to nursing school, but the fatigue and numbness made this impossible. She heard of a doctor who was treating multiple sclerosis by injecting vitamin B12 and adenosine phosphate. Desperate for anything that might help she tried this and was delighted and the outcome. She managed to return to nursing school and got her nursing degree.
Determined to research possible MS treatments, Elaine read copiously. During one of her frequent trips to the library she read about histamine, a neural transmitter, and became convinced that this was the answer.
She began to inject herself with varying amounts of histamine, noting the results as she went. After much experimentation she eventually struck the right dosage. The fatigue was gone, the numbness was gone, she felt better.
Her discovery fell on deaf ears within the medical community, Elaine DeLack was a nurse – not a doctor or a scientist. But, word got around the MS community and she received many calls encouraging her to continue with the development of the treatment.
She met local pharmacist Judy Richardson who agreed to help her develop the treatment. They produced a cream which could be applied to a transdermal patch. Elaine managed to convince a local doctor to try the patch on his MS patients with outstanding results.
Having approached the major drug companies and being stone-walled as there was no perceived money in the proposal, she decided, in typical DeLack fashion, to go it alone.
They needed a name and came up with pro-caring, drop the G and you get Procarin.
Although not FDA approved, a recent study has shown that over 600 doctors are prescribing Procarin in the USA and nearly 500 pharmacies are manufacturing it.

I have been a happy user of Prokarin for 10 years and I just called Wellness Pharmacy to renew my Prokarin Discs. They state they have been out of the histamine needed for some time and you are working with them on a resource. I’ve not had the best experiences with Wellness, so am preparing to look at alternate sources to go back to the cream form if necessary. Please advise.
