Alternative Web Browsers, Try a different Web Browser

The majority of people, I’m sure, think of Internet Explorer when they think of a web browser, or possibly Netscape Navigator. However, these are not the only players in the web browser market. There are other web browsers every bit as good as the leading two and possibly, in some cases, better.

Netscape Navigator v7.1

2nd only, in popularity to Internet Explorer. A web browser with many features. Is actually based on Mozilla 1.4

Avant Browser v9.02

A fully featured but, light-weight and fast, tabbed web browser

Deepnet Explorer

Built on Internet Explorer, a tabbed web browser featuring P2P file sharing and a NEWS viewer.

Mozilla v1.7.2

Open Source, tabbed web browser. Very impressive.

Mozilla Firefox v0.9.3

A light-weight version of Mozilla and a speedy web browser for it.

Opera v7.54

Free version of this web browser comes with banner advertising. $39 for te full version

Flashpeak Slim Browser v4.0.2

Free web browser, customisable with skins and includes pop-up blocker.

MyIE2 v0.9.27

Free tabbed web browser, but they do ask for a donation.

NetCaptor v7.5.2

Tabbed web browser built on Internet Explorer’s interface. Free but Pro version is $29.95

Safari

The de-facto web browser for the Apple Mac. A tabbed web browser with built-in Google search.

OmniWeb

Award winning web browser for the Apple Mac. Many features including speech recognition. Cost: $29.95

Camino

A new web browser from Mozilla designed from the ground up for the Apple Mac OS

In time, I hope to expand this page to include reviews of each of these web browsers. Although it may take a long time to review the Apple Mac browsers as I don’t have an Apple Mac.

The search engine and browser community is buzzing, at the moment, with rumour that Google is about to produce their own web browser to rival Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. Watch this space …..
