Ciprofloxacin for Bladder Infection
Strictly speaking, it’s not for multiple sclerosis, but it can be used to treat urinary tract infections or UTIs.
If, as I do, you have a need to self-catheterise, it is likely that you will contract a bladder or urinary infection at some time. I have managed at least three over the past few years.
Urine infection can lead to moderate discomfort, or, in my experience, quite severe pain. While bladder pain is not excruciating, any pain can be debilitating if it is persistent.
I have beed prescribed Ciprofloxacin after Trimethoprim failed to clear my bladder pain, I shall pass judgement in this later.
Consult your doctor is you use:
- warfarin
- probenecid
- glibenclamide
- methotrexate
- theophyline
- tizanidine
- clozapine
- ropinirole
You should not consume dairy products whilst on this medication, the packaging says 2 hours before or after taking the tablets
You must NOT consume alcohol.
I have used Ciprofloxacin only once, to my knowledge, and found it to be fairly effective.
